Glasses Direct is an online store started by James Murray Wells in 2004 that sells prescription glasses. This venture was initiated in response to the high prices of eyewear that he encountered when, as a college student, he discovered that he needed to wear glasses. It was found that eyewear shops typically have a huge markup resulting in astronomical prices.
In a bid to provide better value prescription glasses to buyers, this was a shop started out in the front room of James’ parents’ home, with a bit of a helping hand from friends and family. The store has been a tremendously popular and far more economical alternative to buying prescription glasses from high street shops.
