A study has revealed that an impressive 40% of parents actively dislike one or more of the friends of their children, with one in three admitting that they also can’t stand the parents of their children’s friends too.

The survey unveils that parents succumb to playground politics as much as their children. The reason for disliking the children’s friends vary widely, however the most common reasons is because they misbehave, they are spoilt, they are bullies or they are manipulative.

15% of parents dislike their child’s friends for bad behaviour while 12% of parents think their kid’s best mate is overly spoilt.

29% of mothers have a problem with their children’s friend’s parents while 31% of dad’s can’t hack ‘em. Mum’s are more likely to keep quiet about it while dad’s are prone to encourage their kids to make pals elsewhere.

But what can the long-suffering parents do about it? 29% of parents have said that they subtly encourage other friendships, while 24% keep quiet and silently seethe as their child spends time with their pal of choice.

35% of parents won’t invite the naughty child to their playdates in an attempt to discourage any further bond forming.

Parents across the UK have also admitted to disliking their children’s friends’ parents. 30% of parents have an issue with the parents of their child’s friends, with 17% claiming they don’t control their child properly and 7% feeling as thought their children can’t be trusted with them.

Surprisingly, parents that have issues with their kids aren’t necessarily the parents of teenagers – The research shows 34% of the children that parents dislike are actually aged between 2 and 5 years old, proving that you can make enemies at any age.
