Neutrals, marsala and continued homage to ’90s grunge: here’s lookin’ at you, 2015.

1. Credit Crunch Chic

Credit Crunch Chic brogues

Topshop coat / ASOS cardigan / Whistles blouse / Gap jeans / Fashion Union brogues

These brogues might technically be burgundy, but they’re very close to marsala (Pantone’s 2015 Colour of the Year). We love them paired with the cobalt jacket, and think they’d go hand-in-hand with some of the more muted upcoming spring neutrals.

2. In My Sunday Best

[in my sunday best] long coat

Charity Shop coat / Superdry jumper / Primark jeans / Office boots

The over-sized coat isn’t going anywhere this year (hallelujah!) and a slightly more tailored version like this will to carry you through to spring — we also imagine you can trot it back out next December again, too.

3. Rainbows and Fairy Dust

Colette (Australia) fedora / New Look fur stole / ASOS cape / Next skinny jeans / M&S boots

Here again are some red and burgundy tones sneaking in alongside cooler neutrals. Adding a warm pop of colour (or two!) goes a long way towards keeping a grey/blue look from seeming flat.

4. Epiphanniea

Epiphanniea neutrals

River Island jacket / Boohoo trousers / Net a Porter turtle neck / Miss Selfridges fedora

You heard it here first: grey is the new black. These muted shades play beautifully off one another, and are light enough that they won’t seem too moody once the days start getting longer.

5. The Style Martini

Style martini Varsity-Sweater

Ralph Lauren sweater / AG Jeans jeans / Kaleos sunglasses / & Other Stories beanie / & Other Stories bag / Cartier necklace

All hail the varsity sweater! These are cropping up everywhere right now, continuing the sportswear style trend into this year. We like it here as part of a dressed-down look, but it can easily do double-duty paired with a tailored shirt and booties.
